Another take on SEC

Sinead Comerford gives her take on the Sussex Enterprise Conference, highlighting special Oban mentions during International Trade discussions and the attractiveness of James Caan…

The Sussex Enterprise Conference took place today in the Brighton Centre. Guests listened with great interest to talks delivered on International Trade and got to learn handy tips about forging working relationships with China and Russia. The Principal of Chichester College, Dr Richard Parker spoke of the college’s success in reaching its Chinese audience. Stephen Dalziel, the Executive Director of the Russo-British Chamber of Commerce gave a hugely interesting speech on Russian relations and highlighted the need for planning, patience and persistence when forging a successful working practice with this nation.

The International trade team of the Sussex Enterprise mentioned to my delight, that Oban recently presented at their last meeting on the power of search engine optimisation for the global internet.

Points to note: I did ask Dr. Parker if his college website was in chinese & optimised but he did not know, however some future digging was suggested and I have the name of the relevant man to ask!!!!!!

Sitting at lunchtime, one guest said ‘Hey you Obanites are everywhere!’ He had even attended the recent Sussex Enterprise meeting and was able to recite some of Greig’s presentation !!!!!!!!!

The highlight was yet to come……..the ever so handsome James Caan, alias one of the dragons from D. Den. He may not be so tall but boy is he successful. He gave a very modest and humble account of his beginnings in business to explain the long hard road to where he is today. He stressed that listening to people and asking the right questions helped him succeed. He invested in his own employees and supported them all the way. He always kept things real and simple and admitted that he was a little cheeky at times.

The next Sussex Enterprise meeting will take place on the 24th of November and will feature talks on how to sell into the Middle East and the Gulf………..
