Online Buying Behaviour: |
The findings in the previous section lend the understanding that there are a considerable number of challenges to the implementation of e-commerce in organisations, namely: limited household penetration of the internet (accessibility and affordability); lack of an online payment system; and collective culture. These challenges tend to stem or constrain e-commerce initiatives and thereby influence the extent of e-commerce adoption and institutionalization in firms and the potential outcome – in terms of e-commerce benefits and the impact on socio-economic development. Though these challenges exist, aforementioned accounts of e-commerce in Ghana demonstrate DC firms using accessible resources – internally within the firm and, externally in the nation and/or abroad – to address and circumvent the constraints of their context and realise e-commerce benefits. |
